This is an Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, requirement to fabricate, test and deliver one worm gear speed reducer to Willow Island Locks and Dam with an option to provide one speed reducer and appurtenances as described below. New couplings (both halves) shall be supplied for each shaft. Half of each coupling to be installed by the Contractor on each shaft. All internal and external bearings are to be replaced. The gearbox must be installed with a way for the gearbox to breathe. A site visit is recommended by the Contractor to ensure all components are compatible with existing features. Both the base and the option have the same requirements as detailed in these specifications. Gearbox delivery must be within 26 weeks after notice to proceed. Gearbox must match what is shown on the existing speed reducer nameplate. Drawing provided for reference only. Work Experience. The Contractor shall have performed designing of gearboxes, new gearbox fabrication/ production, repairing gearboxes and testing experience. The Contractor must have the ability to make new gears in-house and for new gearbox fabrication/ production along with experience in manufacturing and rebuilding gearboxes that are used in hoisting applications. Contractor will have produced at minimum 10 gearboxes over the past two (2) years. The Contractor shall submit a detailed list of their related past work experiences to the Government with their bid describing the work they did to such gearboxes. The Contractor shall be a member of the American Gears Manufacturers Association (AGMA).Contractors are encouraged to attend a site visit.
