A. At South Central Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, there are two (2) existing hot water heaters located on the mezzanine level, mechanical room C366. On the contract drawings, the two (2) hot water heaters are labeled as the following: Cpod mechanical room C366, GWH5 & GWH-6. The contractor must remove the existing two (2) hot water heaters, install two (2) new hot water heaters, install any required new domestic water piping, install any required new natural gas piping, install new expansion tanks, and install any required new vent piping. Additional information on the project is listed below. B. C-pod mechanical room, C366 new hot water heaters requirements: 1. The new hot water heaters must meet the following requirements and what is stated in specifications section 1.01 or equal: a. Must be a minimum storage of 215 gallons of water. b. The input must be a minimum Btu/h is 199,000 and 58 kW. c. The recovery rate from 40 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in one hour must be at a minimum of 192 gallons. d. The working pressure (hydrostatic test) is 150 PSI and 1,034 kPa. e. Must operate off natural gas. f. The minimum inlet gas pressure is 4.5” WC / 1,121 Pa. g. The maximum inlet gas pressure is 10.5” WC / 2,616 Pa. h. The manifold gas pressure is 1.4” WC / 349 Pa. i. The hot water heaters electric is 120 volts, single phase, 60 hertz, and 5 amps. j. Must be a minimum of 82% thermal efficiency. k. Must be a low NOx water heater. l. The hot water tank interior tank must be a duplex stainless-steel tank. C. New hot water heater requirements: 1. New hot water general required specifications: a. Contractor must meet the requirements listed in specifications section or equal to what was previously specified above in specifications section 1.01(B), subsection 1 in addition to what is listed below in the specifications. b. Manufacturers: 1) Available Manufacturers: Manufacturer shall be a company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this section with a minimum of twenty years’ experience. The water heaters shall be manufactured by a company that has achieved certification to the ISO 9001Quality Management System. 2) The water heaters shall be ETL listed as a complete unit. The heater shall satisfy the current Federal Energy Policy Act standards for both thermal efficiency and stand-by heat losses as established for gas fired water heaters incorporating storage tanks. 3) The water heaters shall be ETL listed as a complete unit. The heater shall satisfy the current Federal Energy Policy Act standards for both thermal efficiency and stand-by heat losses as established for gas fired water heaters incorporating storage tanks. 4) Manufacturers: PVI is the basis of design. Acceptable manufacturers shall be subject to compliance with the requirements.
