Specifications include, but are not limited to: Designing and constructing a new dairy barn located at the WVU Stewartstown Road Animal Science Farm. This new barn is required to sustain the important integrative teaching-research-outreach platform supported by the dairy component of the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources & Design. A state-of-the-art facility constructed adjacent to the current milking parlor and milk house, will provide housing for the dairy herd to help comply with concerns regarding animal health, safety and comfort, and to provide students, faculty and staff with a safe, modern working environment. The new facility replaces a structure that was removed because of structural failure. The barn is required not only for the teaching and hands-on experience provided students, but also to help facilitate partnerships with other universities, producers and niche-market dairy industry leaders.
