The West Virginia Department of Education, Office of the Assessment, is publishing direct award determination for alternate summative assessment for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Justification which explains why the direct award is in the best interest of the state: The Dynamic Leaming Maps (OLM) Alternate Assessment Consortium, which West Virginia is a founding member of, presents the opportunity for substantial savings over the expected several millions of dollars were the WVDE to procure a new vendor and testing program for item development and test administrator training. Participating in the OLM Consortium helps ensure that enormous cost is not born by a single state.
