Specifications include, but are not limited to: Proposed research projects must conform to expenditures allowed in RCW 77.60.160. For this RFP projects are being solicited that research burrowing shrimp and aquatic non-native species in Willapa Bay; The use of imidacloprid, an alternative to the previously permitted chemical Carbaryl, to control burrowing shrimp in Gray Harbor and Willapa Bay was denied by the DOE leaving growers with no alternative control method; Measure and better describe burring shrimp populations including: current and historical abundance and distribution, recruitment, changes in natural and anthropogenic controls, life-history and ecology. Increase understanding of burrowing shrimp and shellfish aquaculture interactions in Willapa Bay.
