Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project will help to improve water quality on Salmon Creek which is a fish bearing tributary to the White River. Salmon Creek supports adult Chinook, pink, coho, and chum spawners and have had increasing numbers of Chinook in recent years. 1/3rd of the City's stormwater drains to Salmon Creek (Approximately 2.5 square miles) with many areas receiving basic treatment in ponds. The portion of 160th Ave. E that the project is targeting is currently untreated, so the city is adding a modular wetland unit to remove heavy metals, oils, and sediments before the discharging to Salmon Creek. Additionally, a missing portion of sidewalk which connects downtown Sumner to the City's YMCA is being installed on the east side of 160th Ave. E using the the first pervious sidewalk in City right-of-way. This is to help build acceptance for the different look of pervious concrete which is important as future missing sections of sidewalk are replaced to avoid additional stormwater contribution to Salmon Creek.
