Specifications include, but are not limited to: Pierce County is actively soliciting bids utilizing recycled paper goods. Any offer of recycled paper must meet with U.S. EPA and Pierce County recommended minimum content standards for paper and paper products: Minimums of 50% Recovered Paper Material, or a minimum of 25% Post-Consumer Recovered Materials. Contractor’s Statement of Content (attached) must accompany this bid for consideration of recycled materials use. Definition of terms is included therein. Recycled paper products accepted for use by the County shall carry the words “Recycled Paper” in conjunction with the recycling logo on each envelope back. If offering recycled products, please attach a sample of the paper proposed for use. Envelopes specified as “printed, standard logo” are printed with a return address containing the County Logo Format, unless otherwise specified in the description. The term “regular” shall indicate a non-window envelope. “Window” shall indicate a standard window envelope. Other than standard windows shall be described as “special window.” Paper is to be 24# white wove unless specified otherwise. (Some departments match existing, high quality letterhead.) Envelopes printed with the standard County logo are two color: Blue logo and line, PMS #7461 and Times Roman font in black for the words “Pierce County.” Printed envelopes without County logo are printed in black ink unless otherwise specified. Some envelopes for the Pierce County Auditor may have a special “Election” logo. Business reply envelopes will always require a printed bar code. Printing formats of envelopes as well as window placement must be acceptable for processing by the USPS at the lowest possible rate. All formats must be approved by the USPS. Special attention must be given to window envelopes so that position, squared or rounded corners, etc., conform to samples submitted without breaking postal regulations. Envelopes not manufactured according to sample will not be accepted. Original samples of envelopes are available to view at the County Procurement and Contract Services Department, 950 Fawcett Avenue, Suite 300, Tacoma, WA 98402. All envelopes must have flaps gummed the full width, without skips.
