Specifications include, but are not limited to: A training program that provides instruction regarding best practices and methods for conflict resolution and responding to an active lethal threat in the workplace. Training will emphasize enhanced environmental awareness so that an employee can use verbal self-management tools to de-escalate high stress, one-on-one encounters with clients that will result in a positive resolution, and individual techniques that minimize individual exposure to life-threatening situations in a safe and controlled manner, and to impart relevant knowledge and skills to staff that will keep them safe during an active lethal threat event. The scope of the work will entail the following: Training will be provided for up to 1,745 CSD employees Training will be conducted in a classroom setting Daily training schedule will be 8:30 am – 5:00 pm with breaks and lunch. Training will be conducted between August 1, 2019 through July 31,2021, on specific dates and times mutually agreed upon by the successful bidder and CSD. Training will occur at the following city locations: Spokane, Lynnwood, Olympia, Everett, Vancouver, Tumwater or other mutually agreed to location (s). The service provider will provide all necessary training materials including but not limited to participant handouts, evaluations, pens and folders. End state of the project is as follows: o Up to 1,745 CSD staff will be effectively trained to recognize potential verbal crises through body language and verbal indicators. Staff will learn the techniques necessary to minimize or eliminate a verbal crisis by applying learned skills and techniques through both verbal and non-verbal communication. o Up to 1,745 CSD staff will be effectively trained to minimize their exposure to potential and active lethal workplace threats, utilizing realistic options that enhance their survivability.
