Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide one full time Engineer equivalent to WSDOT’s Transportation Engineer 2 level to facilitate the New Products Program and supplement the Headquarters Materials Laboratory Quality Assurance staff in the New Products, Qualified Products List, and the Aggregate Source Approval Programs. • This position is responsible for the Processing of Applications for the WSDOT HQ Materials Quality Assurance New Product Program and reports to the Qualified Product List and Aggregate Source Approval Engineer (QPL/ASA). • This position represents the WSDOT as a liaison between the Manufacturer's representatives of construction materials and WSDOT Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), determining the appropriate procedures for the evaluation of new construction materials that do not contain current WSDOT Specification requirements. Corresponds and works with WSDOT SMEs, facilitating the establishing new WSDOT Specification requirements and determining appropriate Approval and Acceptance criteria for construction materials for future adherence to the WSDOT and FHWA stewardship agreement. • This position maintains the New Products List. Assists the QPL/ASA Engineer in conjunction with the Request for Approval of Material (RAM) Engineer for re-evaluations of existing materials listed in the QPL database for concurrence with current WSDOT Specification requirements. • Reviews and researches the QPL database for inaccuracies and material types for cyclical reevaluation. • Assists during peak QPL processing times in assisting the QPL/ASA Engineer where required in meeting timeframes. • The New Product responsibilities primarily self-assigned based on requests coming from the Construction Materials Industries, Subject Matter Expert recommendations and revisions to the Standard Specifications or guidance in Chapter 9 of the Construction Manual that may arise from performing these duties. • This position also works at the direction of the QPL/ASA Engineer for QPL special projects.
