Specifications include, but are not limited to: TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS Installation of ductless heat pump must be performed by a technician trained and certified on the brand and model of the equipment being installed. EQUIPMENT SELECTION & SIZING Manufacturer and model must have cold-climate option available. Single head systems - DHPs must be listed on the BPA’s DHP Qualified Products List DHP Qualified Products List. Have a AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) rating of 10.0 Heating Season Performance Factor (HSPF) (minimum). Multi-head systems - Have a minimum 9.0 HSPF rating and the outdoor unit must be listed on the DHP Qualified Products List and the indoor/outdoor units must be compatible. INDOOR UNIT MUST Be located in the main living area. Be placed where it will provide optimal air circulation to maximize the area to be heated. Securely mount indoor unit(s) according to manufacturer specifications ensuring condensate drainage is correctly sloped. Maintain clearances in accordance to manufacturer specifications. Be level and installed in a location that meets manufacturer’s specifications. OUTDOOR UNIT MUST Locate unit with manufacturer recommended clearance on all sides and to allow service access according to applicable code. Situate outdoor unit on a non-wicking equipment pad. Ensure unit is level, plumb, stable, and elevated a minimum of 6" inches above snow line. Units may be mounted on the building exterior wall, secured and supported according to the manufacturer’s instructions following noise and vibration abatement requirements. Be secured to the pad and risers using bolts and/or adhesive. Be located away from walkways and driveways where drainage may result in a slipping hazard. SURGE PROTECTION Contractor shall install surge protection on all DHP installations, to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damaging voltage transients and power surges. Surge protective devices may either be internal to unit or added externally.
