The scope of work involves a broad range of lobbying and advocacy on behalf of the Port including but not limited to: • Work with Port staff to develop an annual legislative agenda supporting Port priorities and strategic objectives • Assist and advise in developing strategy and implementation plans which advance Port priorities • Contribute strategic funding suggestions which benefit Port operations and priorities including grants and loans in the state operating, transportation and capital budgets • Develop viable ‘Local Community Project’ funding requests for inclusion in the State’s capital budget • Monitor, identify and prioritize legislative and regulatory challenges and opportunities which may impact the Port • Monitor and/or participate in Olympia-based legislative coalition meetings including Washington Public Ports Association, Association of Washington Cities, Washington State Association of Counties, Washington Economic Development Association, etc. • Identify and strengthen legislative and state agency relationships • Help draft legislative language and amendments
