Specifications include, but are not limited to: At Parks direction, slash piles within the harvest boundary generated from the 2021 forest health timber harvest will be burned. Slash piles must be at least 75% consumed to be considered successfully burned. Some restructuring of piles may be required to achieve consumption target. Up to one pile every 5-acres may be left behind for wildlife habitat. Piles within 50 to 100-feet of any road, structure, or trail are not eligible to remain as wildlife habitat. Pile burning must be in compliance with Washington State Department of Natural Resources Burn Permit, which has been issued. Pile burning should commence Fall 2022 when burning conditions in the burn permit are met and must be completed by June 15, 2024. SITE AND PROJECT DETAILS: There are an average of 8 slash piles per acre. This contract covers the burning of 1200 slash piles. Burn permit conditions: • Three separate parties must be notified by phone before ignition each day • Burning prohibited between June 15 through October 15 • Burning prohibited unless daily Fire Danger rating is LOW RFP 123-383 Slash Pile Burn - Fields Spring State Park Page 5 of 32 • Burning prohibited within 50 feet of any structure • Burning prohibited if wind exceeds 15 MPH • Burning prohibited on Saturday and Sunday • No ignition or adding fuel to burning piles before 5am or after 4pm • Maximum number of piles allowed to be actively burning at one time: 70 • Pump truck/trailer with 100-gallon capacity required to be on site during burning • Hand tools must be on site during burning • Personnel: 10 persons and pump trailer or 5 persons with bladed equipment capable of constructing fireline. Off site equipment must able to respond on site within an hour • At the time of ignition piles must be lined or have at least 2-inches of snow present • If there is more than 4-inches of snow present, equipment requirements are waived
