1. Contract work may consist of, but not be limited to: Placing and/or removing strand. Placing and/or removing anchors and guys. Lashing and/or de-lashing fiber optic cable to strand. Placing and/or removing fiberglass arms or PUPI cross arms. Placing and/or removing risers. Performing traffic control. Disposing of removed material such as strand, anchors, etc. Pulling fiber optic cable through conduit and vaults Splicing fiber optic cable Lineman jobs will be scheduled by a city representative on an as-needed basis. Individual tasks will be assigned by Work Order. Scheduled lineman services shall be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Contractor agrees to mobilize and be available to perform scheduled work within a maximum of 14 days of each request. There may be occasions when job completion runs beyond normal working hours or when a Contractor is called in for an after-hour’s emergency. Contractor agrees to mobilize and be available to perform Emergency work within six (6) hours of call out. The cumulative annual value of the work is estimated at $20,000.00, but actual work will vary, and no guarantee is made of the actual value of the work. This Unit-Price Contract is not to be used with Federal funds and shall be used for repair and maintenance work only. It shall not be used to complete a major project, or a budgeted capital project. 2. Aerial Fiber Construction Standards All aerial construction work shall meet the standards outlined in Appendix A. 3. Fiber Optic Splicing and Labeling Standards All fiber optic splicing and labeling work shall meet the standards outlined in Appendix B. 4. Fiber Optic Construction Reference Standards The authoritative reference standards for all aerial fiber-optic construction, installation, splicing, testing, traffic control, and safety practices required for City of Anacortes telecommunications projects are specified in Appendix C. 5. Workmanship Where not more specifically described in these specifications, workmanship shall conform to all of the methods and operations of best standards and accepted practices of the trade or trades involved. All work shall be executed by personnel skilled in their respective lines of work. All materials provided for individual projects will be per the current edition of the National Electrical Safety Code. Construction will be performed per the current edition of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and City standards. Only the best and safest methods of operation will be allowed. Any variance from the specifications or standards of quality must be clearly pointed out in writing by the bidder.
