Approximately 39+60 stations of new logging road and associated landing construction. Clearing and Grubbing. 1.1 Contractor shall cut all vegetation larger than 2 inches DBH or over 5 feet high between the marked clearing limits. Clearing must be completed before starting excavation. 1.2 Contractor shall deck all right-of-way timber. Decks must be parallel to the road centerline and placed within the marked clearing limits. Decks must be free of dirt, limbs, and other debris, and removable by standard log loading equipment from the roadbed. Contractor shall use extreme care when falling and moving right of way timber. 1.3 Contractor shall not deck right-of-way timber on slopes greater than 45%, or in locations that impede drainage. Excavation. 2.1 Contractor shall follow the following standards for road grade and alignment: • Maximum grades may not exceed 18% favorable and 15% adverse. • Minimum curve radius is 60 feet at centerline. • Maximum grade change for sag vertical curve is 5% in 100 feet. • Maximum grade change for crest vertical curve is 4% in 100 feet. 2.2 Contractor shall construct excavation slopes no steeper than 1:1. 2.3 Contractor shall construct embankment slopes no steeper than 1½:1.
