The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (hereafter called L&I or the Department) is initiating this Request for Information (RFI) to solicit information from providers, clinics, provider groups, hospitals, and health care systems who are experienced in providing integrated and coordinated treatment programs for chronic pain. The purpose of this RFI is to learn more about current trends in and emerging innovative integrated models to treat chronic pain. L&I as a part of its benefit package reimburses for Structured Intensive Multidisciplinary Program (SIMP). They are outpatient programs that deliver regularly scheduled, daily, interdisciplinary care for the treatment of chronic pain. They are based on biopsychosocial model of pain and provide tools to improve self-efficacy and promote the self-management of pain. L&I is interested in building off of prior efforts and learning about other and different integrated and coordinated models for treating chronic pain outside of our system.
