Examine National Resources and Practices: - Review national resources, reports, and studies pertaining to the placement of individuals with I/DD in restrictive institutional settings. - Identify promising practices and successful models from across the country aimed at reducing the number of individuals with I/DD in such settings. 3. Prepare Detailed Report for Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council: - Compile findings into a comprehensive report for the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council. - Present an analysis of current challenges and barriers, incorporating both local and national perspectives. - Highlight the intersectionality of identity and systems, particularly examining the impacts on BIPOC and rural or historically marginalized IDD communities. - Include an overview of relevant laws and their implications for individuals with I/DD. - Provide recommendations and suggestions on strategies to reduce the number of individuals with I/DD living in restrictive institutional settings. - Offer insights into successful models, best practices, and resources available both locally and nationally. - Address additional foci areas such as non-public education agencies, privately owned facilities, community-based housing, and programs like the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Administration Community Protection program. 4.
