The purpose of this ITB is to secure the services of a contractor to repair, remanufacture, and/or rebuild hydraulic cylinders, motors, and valves. A major component of this work will be to rebuild and recertify Ferry Hydraulic Apron Cylinders. Other hydraulic work for other County Departments may be requested during the contract period. The successful bidder must have an active Washington State Business License and employ trained, qualified, and certified hydraulic technicians. Pierce County Ferry System currently has three landings that utilize hydraulic cylinders. Each landing has two cylinders that are rotated by staff in and out of service as needed. It is the County's intention to have properly rebuilt backup cylinders in stock at all times. Other hydraulic work may be requested as needed. Currently the ferry system has the following cylinders in use and rotation: Rexroth Cylinders - Quantity 6 The Rexroth cylinders have 7" (180mm) bore, 13" (330mm) stroke with 4.33" (110mm) diameter rods. Cunningham Cylinders - Quantity 4 The Cunningham cylinders with holding valves have 8" (203mm) bore, 18" (457mm) stroke with 3.5" (89mm) diameter rods. The stroke on the Cunningham cylinders shall be shortened by 1" to a total of 17".
