The Hearing Examiner is responsible for conducting hearings on and adjudicating quasijudicial cases involving a variety of complex land use and regulatory compliance issues, and other issues which the City Council may designate to the Hearing Examiner by ordinance or resolution. The Hearing Examiner shall issue decisions and recommendations based on relevant ordinances, regulations, policies, statutes, and other authorities. In addition to any other duty established by ordinance or resolution, the Hearing Examiner will agree to: 1. Receive and examine available information, conduct public hearings, prepare findings in accordance with adopted City regulations and policies, and render decisions in writing that are clear, complete and internally consistent, factually accurate and legally sufficient. 2. Consult with the City and its staff on matters relating to clarification or development of City policy that may affect the decisions the Hearing Examiner is called upon to render. 3. Comply with all requirements, including time limits, of the code and statutory provisions that are applicable to the cases under his/her jurisdiction. 4. Accept all cases scheduled, as scheduled for hearings, or notify the City in writing as soon as practical prior to the hearing date of his/her inability to preside over the hearing. 5.
