1. Utilization of safety analytics and real-time identification to collect multimodal data, identify safety issues and modal conflicts, support real-time safety applications and signalized intersections, and measure before-after impacts of safety mitigation strategies. 2. Design and implement mid-block median treatments to reduce mid-block crossing occurrences by improving access to signalized crossings and deterring use of existing landscaped medians as a pedestrian refuge. 3. Leverage advanced transportation controllers (ATCs) and automated traffic signal performance measures (ATSPMs) to apply advanced timing strategies based on multimodal detection and realtime safety conflict identification. The City’s preferred video detection vendor, Miovision Technologies, will be leveraged when developing ATSPM strategies. 4. Design and implement countermeasures to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injury involving various roadway users by implementing safety treatments through enhanced signal operations and mid-block median treatments. Mid-block median treatments should focus on reducing mid-block crossing occurrences by improving access to signalized crossings and deterring use of existing landscaped medians as a pedestrian refuge.
