Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County plans a process to have a consultant examine methods for food waste management. Theconsultant will develop a series of Reasonable Management Practices and make recommendations to theSolid Waste Division. These Reasonable Management Practices will consist of waste managementpractices which have a proven track record and may be appropriate for Pierce County. The consultant willpresent their recommendations to the Solid Waste Division and the Division will develop a more conciselist of recommendations of Best Management Practices. The project Stakeholders will advise the Countyon final Best Management Practices to recommend to elected officials for approval. The consultant will beexpected to widely explore the field of food waste management.The consultant will report to the Project Manager. The Solid Waste Division has designed the project tofollow a public process ensuring transparency and accountability. The Division has convened an internalSolid Waste Division Coordinating Team (C-Team) headed by the Project Manager to administrate andnavigate the project through the process. In addition, the Solid Waste Division has convened an externalProject Management Team (PMT) which consists of members from Pierce County's Solid Waste AdvisoryCommittee, the County's disposal contractor, (Pierce County Recycling, Composting and Disposal, LLCdba LRI), the County's waste haulers, and representatives from the City of Tacoma and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. The PMT will critically engage the consultants during thedevelopment of Reasonable Management Practices and advise the County on narrowing the options fromReasonable Management Practices to Best Management Practices.
