The City of Port Townsend is requesting qualifications for architecture and engineering consulting services to work with designated staff to develop schematic design for a new City Maintenance Facility. The existing Public Works shops located on Beach St. currently houses our Public Works Department/ Fleet Department/ Storm and Water distribution crews. This site consists of older portable units that have reached their useful life expectancy and is undersized for such a large crew. The new proposed facility would be expanded to include other functions of city maintenance. This first step in this project will be to hire a consultant to develop a schematic design towards building a new Municipal Service Center adjacent to our water filtration and reservoir property. Key square footage evaluations are anticipated under the following areas, all of which would need to be verified through the schematic design process and space analysis: ESTIMATED SQ FT NEEDED; Water Distribution: 2,000 SQFT; Waste Water Collection: 2,000 SQFT; Storm Water: 1825 SQFT; Streets: 1825 SQFT; Fleet: 5,200 SQFT; Facilities: 1,500 SQFT; Parks: 3,500 SQFT; Non Building Open Space: 6,500 SQFT; Total SQFT NEEDED: 24,350 SQFT
