Several changes in policy and other initiatives have emphasized the need for the Department to continue to increase revenue enhancement activities. The Department has recently embarked on a second round of National Accreditation. One of the mandatory standards which the Department must meet in the accreditation process is that of capturing all potential sources of revenue. Although the Department has been successful in these efforts, it is believed that there are areas which need further refinement. Another initiative which has led to the need for contractual assistance is the Home of Relative Reform Initiative. This Initiative originally implemented in 1995, has become more important as the DHHS has prohibited reimbursing administrative costs for unlicensed relatives. The Department has re-focused on the Home of Relative Licensing efforts with the development of a website and monitoring. This function requires staff support and technical assistance related to the monitoring of this initiative.
