Introduction to Specifications A. The Contractor shall repair bus engine crankshafts on an as needed basis as required by King County Metro Transit Department, Vehicle Maintenance Division. The repaired crankshafts shall meet or exceed OEM manufacturer’s minimum specifications and conform to all applicable industry and safety standards. The Contractor shall have the facilities, personnel and equipment necessary to perform all requirements of the contract. 2.2 Alternate Sources A. King County reserves the right to award one or more contracts for the repair of bus engine crankshafts. Also, King County may obtain these items from alternate sources of supply upon the failure of the Contractor to meet contract requirements or as otherwise determined to be in the best interest of King County. 2.3 Will Call A. The Contractor shall have the capability to provide will call service at a facility within thirty-five (35) miles of the Component Supply Center, 12200 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, WA 98168. 2.4 Related Products A. Requirements may change during the contract period. King County reserves the right to add different crankshafts and related items to the contract, at any time, through the contract amendment process, Section 2.3 of the draft Contract. The pricing structure of these related items shall be the same as those items originally listed on the contract. 2.5 Repairs A. Stage One Repairs 1. Magnaflux and inspect the crankshaft for cracks. 2. Inspect Rod and main journals for wear. 3. Inspect Front and rear seal area for wear. 4. If no cracks or wear is found on the crankshaft, polish the rod and main journals. B. Stage Two Repairs Complete Stage One repairs and if the seal area is worn, metal spray and turn (grind) the seal area to its original OEM specification. 2.6 Current Crankshafts Being Repaired A.
