Specifications include, but are not limited to: Consultant's Responsibilities:·Build good relations and establish trust with commissioners, Port staff andcustomers.·Secure the Port's access to key leaders in the public and private sector inAlaska.·Interact with Horizon Lines and TOTE in Anchorage.·Maintain and enhance the Port of Tacoma's partnership with the Port ofAnchorage.·Develop and support programs that showcase U.S. carriers and value of JonesAct. Remain alert to any groundswell in the State for Congress to amend theJones Act.·Educate and guide the Port on Alaska and national issues that affect Tacoma,i.e., ANWR, gas pipeline, etc.·Position the Port to support its customers on Alaska and national political issues.·Work with Tacoma and Alaska chambers and business organizations to advancePort's business interests.·Anticipate, predict, and advise Port about new discoveries and the status oflarge-scale resource developments by working with oil, gas, coal, and mineralindustry representatives
