1. Radio Rental a. The contractor shall provide two-way radios for Virginia Tech’s use. The contractor shall retain ownership of the radios during the contract period. b. Quantities to be provided: 1. Management Radio, minimum 50 channel– 15 each 2. Standard Radio, two channel – 350 each 3. Standard Radio, eight channel – 50 each 2. Interference abatement before and during the event. a. On-site TV crews sometimes bring in radios on the channels in use by the athletic department. Negotiation for changes must be made in order for a suitable alternative channel to be found for these operations. b. Outside broadcast radio remote operations sometimes interfere with the channels in use. They must be located (on Virginia Tech property) and negotiated to be turned off or change frequency. c. On occasion, there can be on-site interference from Virginia Tech radio units transmitting because someone has the mic button pushed without realizing this condition. The radio must be located and shut off so that it will not cause this channel to be useless. 3. Assistance to other related departments and work groups. a. Equipment and technical problems arise occasionally and need to be solved or repaired quickly on the spot during the event.
