The Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Physical Security, Research and Development Branch (DS/PSD/RD) is determining drop-ball test criteria for shatter-resistant window films (SRWF) so a ball-drop test can replace existing performance criteria to approve films for use in US Diplomatic facilities. Several shatter-resistant window films currently meet the Department of State’s SRWF criteria, and some of these approved films will be used as controls for this effort. The goal of this testing effort is to define the test setup and sample specifications such as drop-ball height, specimen thickness, and film application for SRWF for use in US Diplomatic facilities.
