The project involves the clearing of vegetation for the twelve vertical feet above the existing normal pool, between elevations 671 feet and 683 feet, at the Ragged Mountain Dam. The removed vegetation from the perimeter of the main reservoir shall be burned in an area indicated on site. The removed vegetation from the portion of the reservoir upstream of I-64 shall be mulched and disposed of along the Poorhouse Road Access Route, or removed from the site. In addition, the vegetation on both sides of a portion of the I-64 embankment that crosses the southwest cove of the reservoir shall be cleared. Additional work includes the construction of a blanket drain along a portion of the right abutment of the dam; construction of concrete boat ramps; removal and reinstallation of an existing trash guard over a principal spillway inlet weir; installing a blind flange at the existing riser outlet tower; improvements and additions to an existing floating trail bridge; replacement of the southwest cove spill boom; expansion of the Lower Ragged Mountain Trail Parking area; erosion controls and permanent grassing of disturbed areas, and other tasks as shown on the contract documents.
