Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. SLOPE REPAIR SERVICES: 1. The Contractor shall furnish all engineering design, labor, tools, equipment, supervision and materials as necessary for stabilizing identified unstable soil masses (landslides/slopes) by internally reinforcing the soil mass with reinforcing elements (nails or anchors). The VDOT Representative shall determine method of soil slope repair to be used and review the location with the Contractor. Removal and disposal of excavated slide/slope material will be the responsibility of VDOT. 2. The Contractor shall provide all necessary engineering plans and details required to successfully repair slides as noted. Any necessary geotechnical investigation required to produce plans will be the responsibility of VDOT. Any necessary slope stability modeling/analysis will be the responsibility of the Contractor. These plans shall be stamped by a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in the State of Virginia, who is knowledgeable in the design and implementation of slope stabilization. All designs shall be based on a 75-year minimum service life. In addition, all engineering plans shall contain a warranty statement guaranteeing the roadway platform stability for the repaired section for a period of five (5) years. This warranty statement shall be jointly endorsed by the Contractor and the design engineer. Changes or deviations from the approved submittals must be resubmitted for approval. No adjustments in project time will be allowed due to incomplete submittals. The design engineer must be a full time employee and/or have a minimum of 3 years successful experience with the Contractor for each lot/repair method bid on. Successful experience must include a minimum of three projects per year representing each lot/repair method bid on. 3. The Contractor shall comply with AASHTO Specifications, or accepted industry standards for any specific items not addressed herein or elsewhere in the Contract Documents. VDOT will provide all traffic control, guardrail, public notification, clearing of the site, environmental controls and obtain access to adjacent property as needed. The Contractor must have successful experience with the stabilization of an active landslide undermining a publically traveled roadway (while maintaining active traffic in at least one lane) on at least five (5) different projects within the last three (3) years for each lot/repair method bid on. The bidder must submit documentation with their bid of this experience and must show self-performed usage of the specific nail type(s) or PARVS specified in this solicitation. A brief description of each project with the Owner’s name and current contact information shall be included. Submit documentation showing appropriate vendor qualifications with Attachment D.
