Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.All milk products shall be deemed to have been produced in plants having a license from the Virginia Department of Agriculture. It is understood that all conditions of the agreement are subject to compliance with the rules and regulations of all agencies of the Federal Government and the Commonwealth of Virginia in the handling, distribution and sale of milk products. 2.All milk products shall be Grade “A” pasteurized qualities standards, nutritional analysis must be provided immediately upon award of bid or upon request. 3.All milk must be packaged in one-half (1/2) pint single-service, coated fiberboard cartons or plastic bottles and packed 50 cartons per case. All cartons or bottles shall be sound, sanitary and leak proof, with lids that shall not make it unduly difficult to open by small children nor produce noticeable leakage. 4.Milk cartons or bottles must be treated to kill harmful bacteria and provide adequate protection of contents from contamination. 5.Each individual carton or bottle must be marked with the date of expiration, butterfat content, and vitamin fortification. Commercial or brand markings are acceptable. 6.Milk delivered must have a minimum of seven (7) days remaining before the expiration date on the carton or bottle. 7.Each milk carton or bottle shall be eight (8) fluid ounces. Shortages in volume measurement will not be acceptable and will be charged back as carton shortages. 8.Temperature at time of manufacture through delivery shall range between thirty-six (36) degrees and forty one (41) degrees Fahrenheit. 9.All crates holding milk cartons or bottles must be sanitary, free from dirt and odors.
