The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to solicit bids from qualified firms for pick up, transport and disposal of hazardous waste and other waste materials generated by the County and Chesterfield County Public Schools (County) in the course of their normal activities. The County may award to multiple contractors; In the course of its normal activities, the County generates certain wastes that are classified and regulated as hazardous wastes, non-hazardous wastes or universal wastes that must be managed, transported and disposed of in a proper and lawful manner. Specifications include, but are not limited to: Upon the County’s request for service, the Contractor shall be responsible for providing all services and equipment necessary to pick up, transport and dispose of specified waste. Responsibilities shall include the following: A. Perform testing, packaging, removal, transport, storage, treatment, and/or disposal of hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, universal waste, and other waste materials generated by the County in the course of its normal activities. B. Package, label, mark, and load all waste in a manner meeting all legal requirements. When re-packaging or overpacking is necessary, Contractor shall be responsible for lawful removal, transport, storage, treatment, and/or disposal of the original container and packaging. C. Provide reconditioned 55 gallon drums, approved by the Department of Transportation (DOT), for use when appropriate. D. Transport materials in permitted transport vehicles that are properly placarded prior to and during shipment and provide the appropriate shipping placards to the transporter as needed. E. Coordinate the transportation, treatment, storage and disposal of waste at facilities lawfully approved for such storage, treatment and/or disposal, and are otherwise in compliance with all applicable legal requirements and approved by the County. F. Complete requests for removal of waste within ten (10) days of receiving notification from the County for such service.
