Area 1 – Remove turf and amend soil with 4” of compost, mixing to a depth of 12” and not compacting area to capture runo from turfed area. Cover with wood chips. CBF will supply five 2” caliper native trees for a fall planting with RMC members. Removal and disposal of 11,000 ft2 of asphalt and gravel (down to original soil). Follow Virginia Tech’s soil profile rebuilding methodology to amend the soil and bring it back up to original grade. Add 4” of compost Add 1” of biochar prior to final tilling. The volume of topsoil, compost, and biochar must bring the area back up to grade – that is, no drop o between the remaining parking lot and the remediated area. Cover with wood chips. A curb or parking bumpers need to be installed at the edge of the parking lot to stop cutting through the newly remediated area from Roberson Lane. Area 2 – outlined in white: Install six 9’ x 20’ permeable paver parking spaces in the circle. Area 3 – 15’ x 50’ x 3’ bioretention area to capture approximately 14,500 ft2 sheet flow from parking lot and 2 downspouts o center building (2500 ft 2 ), approximately 17000ft2 of impervious surface). Initial soil samples in this back corner indicate the soil at 36” will infiltrate, but there is room and elevation change to accommodate an underdrain. Area 4 – Install 300-gallon cistern on the back corner of the meeting house to irrigate six 4’ x 8’ raised beds.
