Specifications include, but are not limited to: The general work description of the project can be generally described as replacing floors in five (5) barracks buildings, T2620, T2621, T2622, T2623, and T2626 located along one street of Fort Barfoot. Furniture is to be removed and stored so that the work can take place. The existing VCT flooring and its underlayment are to be demolished and disposed of. Shoe molding shall also be removed. New black felt paper and underlayment shall be installed over existing underlayment. A thinner underlayment may be required at the second floor rear doors to allow door swing clearance. A threshold strip will be required between this area and the rest of the barracks flooring. An accepted adhesive product by the flooring manufacturer shall be applied. The VCT flooring product, Armstrong Premium VCT; Premium Excelon Stonetex, shall be installed in corridors, leader rooms, mop receptor room, and barracks sleeping areas. The color and thickness shall be 52126, Gravel Blue, 1/8" thick. Shoe molding shall be installed back in place. New molding, including around columns, shall be painted to match adjacent trim in Sherwin Williams color Network Gray. SUMMARY OF WORK: These five (5) barracks are two story buildings at approximately 5,310 square feet each. They have VCT flooring in the sleeping areas, corridors, mop receptor closets, and leader rooms. This flooring is to be removed and disposed of. New VCT (vinyl composition tile) flooring is to be installed in its place. CONTRACTOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Remove and store all bunks, mattresses, foot lockers, and vertical lockers. • Provide the means and method to dispose of existing VCT flooring, via garbage dumpsters. Demoed VCT may be eligible for recycle. Owner to clarify. • Shoe molding shall be removed and retained where possible. • Existing thresholds shall be removed and retained. • Existing underlayment for VCT tile shall be removed and disposed of. • New flooring manufacturer recommended black felt paper shall be installed. • New underlayment material of an acceptable minimum of 1/4" thickness and type shall be installed over the felt paper and properly secured. Contractor to allow for door swing clearances at all openings. A threshold strip will be required between this area and the rest of the barracks flooring. • Apply an acceptable adhesive product recommended by flooring manufacturer. • The VCT flooring product, Armstrong Premium VCT; Premium Excelon Stonetex , shall be installed in corridors, leader rooms, mop receptor room, and barracks sleeping areas. The color and thickness shall be 52126, Gravel Blue, 1/8" thick. • Contractor shall apply two coats of wax by buffing to all new VCT flooring. Use of acceptable flooring wax for these applications shall be adhered to. • Shoe molding shall be installed. If new molding is installed, it shall be painted to match adjacent trim in Sherwin Williams color Network Gray. • Shoe molding shall be installed around interior support columns and painted. • Thresholds shall be installed back in place.
