Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. BLEACHERS Contractor shall inspect for structural damage and degradation that could compromise safety and shall correct immediately. Contractor shall provide NPS with documentation of inspection and maintenance services to include the date and signature of the person performing the inspection. Contractor shall check and tighten all fasteners on bleachers. Replace all stripped, broken, missing, or effective hardware. Contractor shall inspect wheel channels and reconnect if disengaged and shall ensure all finger locks move freely and engage properly. Contractor shall check for deflecting deck and seat board support brackets. Contractor shall inspect all seat, skirt and deck boards for cracks, deflection, or other damage, Inspect seat modules if so equipped for cracks and check if seats are secure. Contractor shall replace or repair if needed. Contractor shall inspect all welded connections and repair as needed. Contractor shall verify wall blocking and anchors are secured and properly aligned, adjust and repair as needed. Contractor shall inspect and align all rowlocks and linkage assemblies and replace any missing linkage pins or broken locks. Contractor shall inspect all intermediate deck support brackets for bends or cracked welds and repair as needed. Contractor shall verify all cross braces are secure and undamaged, repair and replace as required. Contractor shall remove excessive lubricants and grease. Shall remove accumulated dust and debris from all moving parts, including wheels. Contractor shall lubricate all moving parts with white lithium grease. Contractor shall align and adjust each bank of bleachers to ensure proper extension and stacking without binding. Contractor shall adjust and clean motors if so equipped and inspect rollers and drive chains. Repair or replace as required. Contractor shall monitor motorized function if so equipped and ensure all units function in unison and that even traction is maintained. Contractor shall inspect for general condition of cleanliness underneath bleachers. Contractor shall inspect and repair wheel and axle assemblies. Contractor shall list discrepancies noted during the inspection and make repairs as required with the approval of NPS Contract Administrator or his designee. Contractor shall inspect all safety end rails and repair or replace as required. Contractor shall and adjust all cantilevers for proper clearance. Contractor shall inspect all front row assemblies for proper operation and repair as required. Contractor shall provide on-site training and safety instruction for NPS school staff in the proper operation of the bleachers and discuss proper housekeeping in and around the bleachers. (30 min./year/site) During inspections Contractor shall repair and replace on site when necessary. B. BASKETBALL BACKSTOP & MOUNTING/BRACKETS Contractor shall inspect for wear and stretching of all safety cables, loose mounts, brackets or any other signs of potential failure of the basketball net, backstop or anchor system (walls and ceilings). Contractor shall check for the smooth operation of the lifting and lowing apparatus. Contractor shall lubricate all moving parts, tighten hardware and adjust limit switches. C. GYMNASIUM DIVIDER CURTAINS Contractor shall inspect for loose suspension hardware or any other signs of potential failure of any part of the suspension system. Contractor shall check for the smooth operation of the lifting and lowering apparatus. Contractor shall check proper adjustment of the limit switch for upper and lower limit of curtain travel. Contractor shall check remote control operation to make sure safety delay and other options are working properly. Contractor shall perform all lubrications that are recommended by manufacturer. Contractor shall notify NPS Contract Administrator of any fabric damage, repair or replacement needed. Contractor must be able to travel to a job site within 24 hours, to reasonable accommodate related work (additional repair, installation, etc.) outside the scope of this contract on an as needed basis. NOTE: Related work referenced above is not considered normal maintenance and would be separately contracted. Contractor shall perform work in a professional manner by personnel experienced in their trade. The Contractor’s personnel shall not ogle nor use foul language. Conversing with any students is prohibited. The Contractor’s employees must adhere to the OSHA dress code standards and NPS Code of Ethics. Shirts must be worn at all times while working on NPS property. NPS reserves the right to request removal of any Contractor’s employee who fails to abide by these standards of conduct guidelines. Contractor shall take precautions to ensure that debris associated with the project is contained within the work area and not allowed to spread into other areas of the school. Job locations shall be left clean of debris and ready for occupancy. All debris and material shall be disposed of in a proper and legal manner. Installation shall be strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Contractor shall assure that all application, material handling, and associated equipment will be handled and operated in conformance with OSHA safety requirements. Where applicable, provide Material Safety Data Sheets for materials to be used on the project. Contractor shall comply with federal, state, and local fire and safety codes and requirements. Contractor shall advise NPS whenever work is expected to be hazardous to NPS employees, students or other building occupants. Contractor shall assume full responsibility for the protection and safekeeping of project materials stored on premises. Contractor shall complete all work uninterrupted on site of NPS prior to commencing new jobs at other site locations. Project Manager or his designee will direct all work. Work cannot be started without a purchase order. All work must be inspected to ensure conformity with the specifications and requirements surrounding the work.
