The Salem VA Medical Center (VAMC), Salem, Virginia is issuing this source sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support this requirement for Patient Bathroom Flooring 4J project # 658-26-102. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 238330 Flooring Contractors. The primary purpose of this project is to modify patient bathrooms to prevent water from flowing outside of the shower area and ultimately flowing or being tracked outside of the bathroom of Area J of the fourth floor of Building 143 at the Salem VA Medical Center. The engineered solution will renovate the 20 bathrooms by demolishing the entire existing flooring in each bathroom. The existing shower area, which is a sub area with the bathroom, attempted to contain and control shower water via a curtain and an accessible threshold/barrier surrounding the sloped shower base. However, water that inevitably escapes the shower area has no path to drainage and ultimately is tracked into the room flooring creating a dangerous condition. The engineered solution is to demolish all existing interior floor tile finishes, shower threshold and provide a new threshold/barrier free tile installation that provides positive consistent drainage from every corner to the bathroom. To achieve this the existing concrete slab shall be ground and leveled as necessary to enable the finished floor to drain properly to the existing drain location. All demolished materials and debris shall be removed, surfaces prepped to receive new leveling and finishes as shown and described in the drawings. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME.
