Specifications include, but are not limited to: Proposed program should offer a process of step by step directed drawing giving young students instruction on how to draw increasingly complex images. Through the process of weekly instruction, students should be exposed to a wide variety of subject matter, artistic concepts, art history and mastery of their art materials. It is the County’s desire that students be given a foundation in art literacy and be given the tools, confidence, and ability to continue participating in the arts. Contractor should include all materials required for the offered classes. Course types should be designed for pre-school, elementary, and middle school age groups. These courses should enhance at least the following skills: 1. Core Art Skills: a. Fundamental drawing skills (lines, pattern) b. Fundamental art skills (composition, balance, scale, proportion) c. Fundamental art techniques (portraiture, perspective, still life, shading) d. Expanded art vocabulary e. Art history f. Color theory and techniques g. Expanded imagination and creativity 2. Core Learning Skills a. Fine motor skills (handwriting) b. Attention to details and focus c. Process, order and completion d. Visual discrimination e. Time on task f. Visual/spatial organization skills g. Sequencing h. Expanded image vocabulary i. Persistence and follow through j. Patience, discipline and manner k. Increased self-esteem and confidence
