Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1) Provide and supervise a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 certified https://www.yogaalliance.org/Credentialing/For_Teachers/E-RYT_500 yoga instructor to conduct weekly in-person and/or virtual yoga classes for BHD clients. If the assigned yoga instructor is not available, the Contractor must provide an email notification of planned absence/s to the County Healthy Living Program coordinator no later than 5 pm, 5 business days before the next scheduled class and provide a Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 certified substitute yoga instructor. 2) Due to pandemic restrictions, all classes are currently offered virtually only; once the County lifts restrictions, classes will resume in person and contemporaneously through Zoom. The County will notify the Contractor at least 14 calendar days prior to switching to in-person classes. In person-classes will be held at Arlington County Department of Human Services, 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA 22204. Classes will take place on Mondays from 10:00 - 11:00 am; minimum participation one (1) person, maximum participation 10. Classes will not be held on County holidays that are observed on Mondays. 3) The yoga instructor must be able to engage and motivate clients living with mental health and substance use challenges. The class should be interactive and engaging. 4) Contractor must ensure the assigned yoga instructor or substitute instructor will satisfactorily perform the following duties: a) Complete an intake form for each new class participant. b) Assist group participants with pre-class setup, as necessary; such as support with setting up virtual connections; for in-person sessions, arranging mats and other equipment, etc. c) Design yoga sequences or a stretching program that is adaptable to a variety of skill and mobility levels to include the use of chairs or other supports. d) Coach and provide general instruction on execution of poses and exercises with special attention to student safety. e) If, during the course of a yoga class, a student needs medical attention, the Yoga instructor must assist the student with calling a medical provider or an ambulance. f) Collaborate with the County’s Healthy Living Program coordinator regarding students’ individual physical or mental health needs. g) Request new permissions from each student at each in-person session to allow the instructor hands-on corrections to facilitate accurate movement, position, and injury prevention. h) Collaborate as needed with assigned program clinician, who will be present for each class session to provide any necessary behavioral health intervention.
