A. Yoga Services: To provide professional yoga services to Individuals Receiving Services at SVMHI. The Joint Commission requires that all Yoga instructors must be certified. Yoga is an evidence-based practice that supports mental health, anxiety, improved executive functioning, mindfulness, healthy eating, and improved sleep. SVMHI is in need of an instructor to attend one time per week on Mondays to provide a 45-minute class to patients. B. Expectations: a) Policies and Regulations: In providing yoga, or other services to patients of Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, the Contractor agrees to abide by all rules, regulations, policies, and instructions promulgated by the Commonwealth of Virginia, DBHDS and Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute concerning the provision of care and treatment of patients. b) When leading the yoga group, the yoga instructor will always be present with a SVMHI staff member and the yoga instructor will never be alone with a SVMHI patient. c) The yoga session will be conducted in the Webb Activity Center (gym). The Yoga instructor will be escorted to and from the gym with a SVMHI staff member. d) Any yoga props that are brought in by the yoga instructor must receive prior approval from SVMHI to ensure all safety standards are met. The yoga instructor may bring a personal yoga mat. Yoga mats utilized by the patients will be provided by SVMHI.
