Positive displacement Meters shall conform to the most recent version of AWWA C-700 as well as this specification, whichever is more restrictive. In addition, Positive displacement Meters shall include and conform to the following: 1) A nutating disc measuring element. No piston-oscillation style meters will be considered. 2) Lead-free metallic bodies (e.g. bronze or cast iron). Bottom plates shall be composed of lead-free, metallic materials. Bronze and cast iron are acceptable. The County prefers whichever material is cheaper and has the shortest lead-time. 3) Meter sizes 5/8”, 3/4”, and 1” shall have screw type ends. 4) Meter sizes 1-1/2” and 2” shall have 2-bolt elliptical flanges and a 1” test port plug on the outlet side. SINGLEJET METER REQUIREMENTS a) Meter shall be of singlejet design and construction. b) Meter shall comply with the latest version of AWWA C-712 for cold water meters – singlejet type. c) Physical specification: I. Meters sized 1.5”, 2”, 3”, 4” and 6” shall be lead-free metallic body. II. Meters in 1.5" and 2" sizes shall include a 1” test port plug built into the meter body. Test ports on meter sizes 3” and larger shall be located on either the meter body or on a separate spool piece.
