Through the ETL program, the Commonwealth will support collaborative clinical training arrangements between educational institutions, hospitals, and healthcare providers to increase the number of nursing students receiving necessary clinical training to achieve certification or licensure, creating employment opportunities for nursing students to produce nurses who transition to nursing practice more effectively and efficiently, and to retain nurses in Virginia. Earn to Learn awardees will be able to set up or continue to sustain an ETL model where participating Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) students can work part time for a stipend at a clinical facility while school is in session, while also participating in immersive clinical rotations under the guidance of an experienced mentor/preceptor
