The contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, parts and materials, as necessary, for grounds maintenance and snow and ice removal services. Snow/Ice Removal-Mandatory: 1. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, equipment, chemicals (not salt), materials and supervision necessary to remove snow and ice from the facilities’ grounds listed in this contract. Services shall provide for the removal of all snow and ice from main driveways, parking lots and entrances, all sidewalks, front and back door steps, exits, etc. on the premises as required. In the removal of snow/ice, it is imperative that the contractor not inhibit any of the parking spaces and make arrangement to move the snow off the premises, ensuring all spaces are available for use prior to the next regularly scheduled business day. If necessary, snow shall be stacked in areas designated by the Facility Manager. 2. The Contractor shall automatically respond “on site” within a reasonable time, but in no case longer than 4 hours, after snow has accumulated to a depth of two inches. No removal is required after 3:00 pm on Friday, or if the VEC is closed on Friday. If more than two inches remain on the designated areas Sunday, in the PM removal is required before 7:00 AM Monday. If Monday is a state holiday (see holiday schedule https://www.dhrm.virginia.gov/payandholidaycalendar), no clearing should be done on Sunday and then if more than two inches remain on the designated areas Monday, in the PM removal is required before 7:00 AM Tuesday. 3. The Contractor shall spread sand or a chemical deicer (not salt) when surface icing has occurred. Sand and snow melting materials shall be provided by the Contractor as needed. Only chemicals which have been approved for use by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Virginia Department of Transportation shall be used.
