provide Professional Services including design services, pre-construction services, contract administration services, field engineering and inspection services, startup and testing services, operations and training services, and post-startup and certification services for the Virginia Initiative Plant Aeration Tank and Primary Clarifier Gate Replacement Project (VP019800). This Project includes work to be completed at the HRSD Virginia Initiative Plant in the City of Norfolk under a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) as follows: The Virginia Initiative Plant Aeration Tank and Primary Clarifier Gate Replacement Project (VP019800) will replace 16 aeration tank slide gates, 18 primary clarifier slide gates, and 6 chlorine contact tank slide gates, all with new motorized stainless steel slide gates. The gates are over 34 years old and at the end of their design life. The fiberglass wrap and gate core are damaged at multiple locations, making them difficult to operate. Motorizing the gates will enable more efficient operation and allow for the gates to be exercised more frequently, as well as provide flexibility in controlling the aerobic volume. HRSD is in the process of establishing an On-Call Treatment Plant Services Contract specifically for work at treatment plants. It is currently envisioned that this Project will be constructed through a series of task orders under this new Contract; however, this will be confirmed during the design phase of the Project with input from the Firm.
