A. Project Scope • The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) intends to enter into multiple contracts with a qualified firm(s) to furnish all labor and resources to conduct an extraction of priority Model Inventory of Road Elements (MIRE) and Traffic Device Asset data for the purpose of safety analysis. The Contractor shall extract data by leveraging the available technologies and existing data sources and/or imagery. Priority road elements and traffic device assets shall be identified, and attributes shall be extracted and reported on all the routes in the study area described in Section VI.C in this RFP. • This project is a proof-of-concept to evaluate technological solutions for safety analysis data needs on what can be extracted from readily available data sources. Participation in this project does not guarantee future large-scale contracts. • Contractors must independently have access to sufficient existing source data to perform the work. This RFP will NOT facilitate or contract new data collection except for optional Task Orders (TO). • Optional work to refine extraction methods or expand data extraction may be requested via Task Orders (TO), contingent on initial performance and VDOT’s discretion.
