Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project will consist of modifications to portions of the USDA’s office space. The building is located at 163 Kabler Lane, Rustburg, VA 24588; 1. Modify the existing Customer Service Counter. The existing counter must be a hardened barrier and shall be between 42” and 48” high and will account for Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standard (ABAAS). The customer counter area shall be modified to include the construction of interior, non-load bearing walls, along with the removal of one (1) existing personnel door. Walls shall extend past the existing ceiling and shall be “tied into” ceiling structure. One (1) wall shall include the installation of one (1) personnel door with lock. All ceiling tile and grid shall be re-installed. a. Wall framing shall consist of conventional 2x4 framing, wood or metal is acceptable. b. Wall covering shall consist of conventional 5/8 inch thick drywall, or match existing drywall, with smooth finish, and one (1) coat of primer and two (2) coats of finished paint. c. Install 3.5” vinyl base. Color to be specified by owner. d. Paint shall be Sherwin Williams, supplied by contractor, color to be specified by owner. e. Door shall be ADA compliant, solid wood core, paint grade, with ADA compliant hardware, including a thumb turn dead bolt. Paint shall be Sherwin Williams, supplied by contractor and color to be specified by owner. f. Hardened Counter surface material shall consist of a solid surface, non-porous material. 2. Install ADA compliant, glass “storefront door” with appropriate hardware, at the designated entrance point to the USDA office suite. A portion of existing wall will have to be removed and properly framed to accommodate the installation of this door. See specifications 1(a) and 1(b) for details. a. Door hinges shall be located on the non-public side, or hinge pins must be permanently secured. b. Door locks shall be controlled electronically via an “electric strike”. This shall be coordinated with the security systems installation contractor. 3. Installation of an Emergency Exit Door. This exist is to be installed along the back (west) wall in the USDA leased space. The installation shall consist of the necessary demolition and framing to accommodate the door installation. The installation shall include exterior stairs, (non-wooden) with handrails/pickets extending to existing grade via a concrete landing. The stairs shall meet life safety and building code requirements.
