The purpose of the Transportation Services Enhancement for Older Adults and People with Disabilities Request for Proposal (RFP) is to expand the capacity of Virginia transportation services to meet the needs of older adults and people with disabilities. To accomplish this, the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) intends to issue grant awards to support projects that increase transportation availability, quality, and efficacy and mitigate barriers and challenges. Funds will be awarded in amounts of no less than $25,000 and shall not exceed $100,000. Funded projects are expected to include the following: • A project design and implementation plan that clearly demonstrates how the project will enhance transportation services for older adults and people with disabilities in Virginia. • Collaboration involving transportation stakeholders (i.e. people with disabilities, older adults, caregivers, etc.), local transportation services, aging and disability organizations, and others relevant to the project • Data collection activities, including outcome measures, that demonstrate the project’s impact in enhancing transportation for older adults and people with disabilities in Virginia.
