Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide on-call, as needed towing services during severe weather events such as snow, ice, and other special events to clear roadways of vehicles (i.e. stalled, abandoned, stuck etc.) on Primary, Secondary and Interstate Roadways within the Culpeper District. The Contractor shall be capable of providing at least one (1) or more of the following tow vehicles: 1. Heavy Duty multi axle minimum (25) ton boom rating greater than 33,000 lbs GVWR, with experienced operator. 2. Light Duty 4X4 wrecker up to 10,000 lbs GVWR with experienced operator. 3. Heavy Duty 75 Ton minimum Rotator Wrecker with experienced operator. Roadways are defined as travel lanes, shoulder and ramp/interchanges areas. Vehicles shall be relocated to the nearest safe location (as designated by VDOT) off of the travel portion of the roadway. In most cases vehicles will not be towed to a storage location. Under extreme circumstances, when multiple vehicles require towing, VDOT will designate a location to tow disabled vehicles.
