Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide prepositioned on-call, towing services during snow, ice, hurricane, and other emergency events to clear roadways of vehicles (i.e. stalled, abandoned, stuck etc.) for VDOT Appomattox Residency on Route 460 in Campbell County between the Bedford and Appomattox County. The Contractor shall be capable of providing two (2) Heavy Duty multi axle minimum twenty five (25) ton boom rating greater than 33,000 lbs. GVWR or greater, tow vehicles having an under reach with an 80,000 lbs. towing capability, as well as two (2) Light Weight tow vehicles capable of towing a Class 1 and/or 2 vehicle up to 10,000 lbs. GVWR using the established TRAA Vehicle Identification Guide. Staging location and start time will be provided when contacted by the VDOT representative. The payment per hour shall be for waiting at the staging location, and for dispatch and removal of vehicle to first safe location. Once motorist is at safe location, tow asset shall return to staging location within 45 minutes.
