To establish awards for the provision of comprehensive suicide prevention and/or opioid addiction services for Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This notice is geared to a community-based grants program. Applicants may submit only one (1) response per agency. The General Assembly of Virginia, through the Appropriations Act, Item 470.F earmarked general funds to establish a program for prevention and intervention of suicide and opiate addiction for service members, veterans, and their families throughout the Commonwealth. The Suicide Prevention and Opioid Addiction Services Program has $4,000,000.00 available for community grants for this purpose. The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) was directed to collaborate with state, local and community organizations, public and private institutions, and other service providers to develop programs to prevent suicide among service members, veterans and their families and address opiate addiction suffered by service members, veterans and their families.
