Specifications include, but are not limited to: A qualified bi-lingual (English/Spanish) Substance Abuse Consultant to conduct an educational program for selected clients. The Substance Abuse Bureau consultant will provide specialized education services for clients involved in treatment. These programs are under the supervision of the staff Education Coordinator. The Substance Abuse Education Program was developed in response to a need for early intervention with consumers who are also receiving primary treatment for their substance abuse. The education program is not therapy and does not attempt direct intervention into individual dynamics. The education program is solely based on a psycho-education and prevention approach, aimed at helping to increase a client’s self-awareness of the potential dangers of substance use and abuse. The goal of the program is to deter clients from developing more serious substance dependency issues. The Contractor shall provide the following specialized psycho-education group services for Spanish and English speaking clients involved in treatment: 1. Provide two (2) group sessions per week; the first group meets for two hours and the second group meets for one hour, with up to 25 participants in each group. The hours and location of service will be specified by the county Substance Abuse Manager. 2. Instruct the class using a curriculum-based approach to client education. All instruction must adhere to the curriculum format. All materials provided to instruct the course are the property of Arlington County and cannot be reproduced and/or taken off county premises. 3. Provide monthly documentation on client participation in the education group. This information will be submitted to the program supervisor monthly. 4. Maintain good working relationships with other county employees, courts, probation and parole employees, and the general public. 5. Adhere to all code of professional conduct when interacting with staff and consumers.
