A. The Contractor shall furnish and deliver 192 fiberglass reinforced polymer sound wall absorption panels, mounting hardware (clips, etc.) flashing and manufacturers installation instructions as per all requirements listed herein. B. Installation of sound wall absorption panels will be done by other Contractor. C. Panels shall meet the following specifications: 1. Panels shall be listed on the VDOT Materials Division Approved Products List #65, see Attachment F. 2. Panels shall meet the specifications for reinforced fiberglass polymer absorptive sound barrier panels per Section 519.02 of the 2020 Edition of the Virginia Road and Bridge Specifications with all revisions. 3. Length of each panel is determined by the bay. See Attachment E. 4. Height of each panel shall be twelve (12) inches. 5. Thickness of each panel shall be 2 ¾”. 6. Weight of each panel shall not exceed 5.5 lbs. per square foot. 7. Longitudinally arranged channels shall form a tongue and groove interlock joint when stacked. 8. Panel finish shall be embossed or otherwise designed or treated to minimize light reflectance under wet conditions. 9. The channel in the existing support column is 2.875”. Panels provided shall be constructed in such a way that when installed would leave no more than a quarter-inch (1/4”) gap in the channel. Maximum panel thickness shall be 2 ¾”. 10. Panel section shall be constructed as a single unit without the need for screws, spacers, bolts or other items to attach to adjacent panels or to the existing structural steel support columns. 11. Panels shall be resistant to the effects of ozone and freeze-thaw cycles. Internal absorptive fill material shall be moisture and corrosive resistant, vermin proof, non-combustible, smokeless and odorless. D. The panels are to replace existing Empires style panels. The existing panels are located in bays that are either four (4), five (5), or eight (8) feet in width. The support posts are 6 inch wide steel I-beams, which are not being removed. E. Upon delivery, all items shall be complete as stated herein and ready for the Commonwealth’s use. F. Clear and concise Manufacturer’s installation instructions shall be provided to VDOT at the time of delivery. G. The Contractor shall provide and deliver the following materials and shall be included in the lump sum bid price. 1. Fiberglass reinforced polymer sound wall panels 2. All necessary mounting hardware (clips etc.) 3. Flashing H. No additional installation hardware will be needed for installation purposes.
