The operating concept is that upon prediction of a snow event, Virginia Tech will provide as much advance notification as possible to the contractor(s) to allow for them to mobilize. Once the extent and timing of the snow event is better known, a second, confirming notification will be provided. The contractor(s) will have four (4) hours to respond and begin clearing parking areas, by priority, in their area. If the contactor has more than one area assigned, they will be expected to complete all priority lots in each area before beginning to clear the lower priority lots. C. Method and Expectations: All snow shall be removed and cleared in a manner that does not block inlets, drains, hydrants or dumpster access. In the event of excessive accumulations, the Contractor may be asked to remove snow from those locations where snow cannot be adequately dispersed. Snow shall be dispersed in a manner that shall not block egress through driveways, parking lots, sidewalks and steps. Virginia Tech personnel will inform the Contractor as to appropriate locations to “stock-pile” snow. Extreme care shall be taken to avoid damaging plants, shrubs, and trees with snow and/or equipment.
